Fernando Calderon Perez passed from this life January 16, 2025 at the age of 56. He was born in Lubbock, Texas on August 2, 1968 to Fernando Garcia Perez and Pola Calderon Perez. He was a graduate of Lubbock High School where he participated in various sports including football, wrestling, and basketball. On February 1, 1997 he married Cristola Noemi Perez in Los Angeles, California and they shared 28 years together. He was always a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served a 2-year mission in Southern California.
Fernando was a loyal fan of the Dallas Cowboys and enjoyed football, reading comics, Batman, country music, John Wayne, cumbia and merengue. He also enjoyed learning about the gospel of Jesus Christ and studying the scriptures and the teachings of the prophets. He will be remembered for his unwavering faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, his big and contagious smile, his strong mind and character, his wisdom and knowledge, and his unconditional love for the Lord, his family, and his friends.
Fernando is survived by his beloved wife Cristola, his children Ilcy Achtmann Santizo, Helmuth J. Achtmann, Michael Fernando Perez, Allan F. Perez, and Mark R. Perez, and his grandchildren Asha B. Orton, Bryce N. Orton, Alia G. Santizo, Erick A. Achtmann, and Adalyn R. Achtmann. He is preceded in death by his brother Michael Perez, his grandparents Nasaria Calderon, Francisco Calderon, Felix M. Perez, and Celia G. Perez, his Aunt Shirley and Aunt Marylou.
Funeral services will begin at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 25 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints 3211 58th Street in Lubbock, Texas with Bishop Andrew Rose officiating. Interment will follow at the City of Lubbock Cemetery. Visitation will be held before funeral services from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
