Felipa "Dora" Romero

March 2, 1946 — February 9, 2025

Felipa "Dora" Romero, 78 years old, left this earth on February 9, 2025 at Southern Specialty Nursing and Rehab. She was born March 2, 1946 in San Marcos, TX to Evaristo Zuniga Sr and Felipa Zuniga. She graduated from San Marcos High School and was a certified CNA. She retired from Southern Specialty as a CNA. As an employee, she loved and cared for her residents with a passion no one could match. As a resident herself, she loved participating in the resident council. She loved crafting, creating art in many forms, painting crosses and birdhouses, and creating jewelry. One of her greatest joys was creating her entry for the South Plains Fair every year. She would take weeks making sure she made something that would win her a placement ribbon.

She will be remembered and treasured by her family and friends as a woman who loved her children and grandchildren. She was outspoken and was the hardest working woman who instilled a strong work ethic into her children and everyone around her. She was a caregiver in every way.

She is survived by her daughter Roxanna Romero of Lubbock, TX, son Anthony J. Romero (Tracy spouse) of San Marcos, TX, daughter Nicole Moreno (Pete-spouse) of Lubbock, TX, sister Linda Narvaiz (Amado spouse) of San Marcos, brother Evaristo Zuniga, Jr. (Denise spouse) of San Marcos, grandchildren Vanessa Reyna, Amanda Alaniz, Reyna Alaniz, Nicholas Gonzales, Joseph Minjarez, Jayne Minjarez, Marisol Minjarez, Amanda Gonzalez, Nickolas Gonzalez, Antoinette Gonzalez, 20 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Arthur J. Romero, Jr., her parents Evaristo Zuniga, Sr. and Felipa Zuniga, her sister Mary Helen Perez, and her brothers Paul Zuniga and Johnny Zuniga.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, February 15 at 11:00 a.m. at Guajardo Funeral Chapels.
