Ernesto S. Hernandez, a devoted family man, faithful servant, and retired United States Postal Service employee, passed away peacefully on April 7, 2026. Born on November 11, 1934, in Taft, Texas, Ernesto led a life marked by hard work, generosity, and unwavering dedication to those he loved.
A proud veteran of the United States Army, Ernesto exemplified discipline and commitment throughout his life. His career with the USPS was characterized by diligence and a steadfast work ethic, reflecting the values instilled in him from a young age. Beyond his professional achievements, Ernesto’s true joy and purpose came from his family and faith. He was a man of deep faith, serving as an ordained deacon within his church community. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, guiding his actions and interactions with others.
Ernesto was a man who always thought of his family—whether his siblings, nieces and nephews, beloved wife Mary Hernandez, or his cherished children Lionel, Grace (married to Jaime), Frank (married to Margaret), and Ernest Jr. His love extended to his grandchildren Michael (married to Alexandra), Angelica Natal (married to Julian), Adriana (married to Travis Hearn), and Steven, as well as his great-grandchildren Elijah, Makayla, Gabriella, Ryan, Jeremiah, Liam, Luis Jr., Andres, Isabella, and Jack Jack Hearn. He took immense pride in his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, always placing their well-being and happiness at the forefront of his heart.
An avid fan of baseball, particularly the Texas Rangers, Ernesto enjoyed moments of leisure watching the sport he loved. His commitment to his church underscored his life’s compass, reflecting a man for whom service and faith were paramount.
Ernesto’s personality was defined by his hardworking nature, his giving spirit, and his continuous consideration for others. Throughout his life, he was known as a good man who instinctively cared for and protected his family, ensuring they were always nurtured and supported.
As we remember Ernesto S. Hernandez, we honor a life well-lived—a life rooted in love, faith, and dedication. His legacy will continue through the many lives he touched and the family he so deeply cherished.
He is survived by his beloved wife Mary Hernandez, his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, all of whom carry forward his memory with love and gratitude. Ernesto’s presence will be profoundly missed, but his spirit remains a guiding light to all who knew him.
