Ernestine Rivas

Ernestine Rivas, lovingly known as Mami, passed away on June 16, 2025, leaving a legacy of love and cherished memories that will forever warm the hearts of her loved ones. Born on November 6, 1930, Ernestine dedicated her life to her family and home, embracing her role as a homemaker with grace and devotion.

A woman of many talents, Ernestine found joy in sewing, gardening, painting, and cooking. Her fondness for celebrating life was evident through her love for parties and her festive Christmas decorations that brought joy to all who entered her home. Whether she was sitting outside on her swing, savoring ice cream, or chatting on the phone with family, she radiated warmth and kindness. Everyone was drawn to her heartfelt hugs, sweet kisses, and the gentle reminder of "I love you," making her a beloved figure in the lives of those around her.

Ernestine's proudest accomplishment was undoubtedly her family, a source of joy that illuminated her life. She is survived by her loving relatives: Janie Rivas, Gilbert (Luisa) Rivas Sr., Lee (Elizabeth) Rivas Sr., Angie Lopez,Diana Rodriguez, Sofia (Daniel) Molinar, Mary (Pedro) Marmolejo, Cynthia (Romeo) Maldonaldo, Esmeraldo (Buddy) Wilhem, Gilbert (Christine) Rivas Jr, and Danny (Flo) Rivas many grand children and great grand children and great great grandchildren and her siblings. Their bonds, forged through shared laughter and countless memories, are a testament to the deep love and connection that defined Ernestine’s life.

Though she reunites with her deceased family, including her beloved husband Juan M. Rivas, her sons Juan T. Rivas and Eugene Rivas, her grandson Modesto Rodriguez the 3rd, her daughter Nora Jean Lopez, and son Daniel Rivas, her spirit will continue to guide and inspire those she left behind.

A visitation for Ernestine will be held at Guajardo Funeral Chapels in Lubbock, Texas, on June 24, 2025, from 4 PM to 9 PM, followed by a Rosary at 7 PM. A Funeral Service will take place the following day, June 25, 2025, at 10 AM, with burial to follow at City of Lubbock Cemetery at 11 AM.

Ernestine Rivas was a beacon of light, a nurturing spirit whose essence will forever linger in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Her life was a celebration of love, compassion, and family—a legacy that will continue to shine brightly in our memories. Rest in peace, dear Mami. You will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
