Erlinda "Linda" Marquez, beloved mother and cherished friend, passed from this life on March 6, 2025, surrounded by the love of her daughter, two sons, and her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, David P. Marquez, Sr., who left us just weeks prior on February 20, 2025.
Born on August 14, 1956, to the late Martina and Isaac Juarez, Linda was a lifelong resident of Petersburg. On April 22, 1972, she married David, the love of her life, with whom she shared 52 beautiful years of marriage. Together, they built a life filled with warmth, laughter, and the everyday joys of family.
Linda’s spirit will forever be etched in the hearts of those who knew her. For many years, she ran My Place Café, a family restaurant lovingly passed down from her parents. It was there that she infused each dish with love, creating unforgettable memories over her famous tamales and hot sauce.
Linda found pure joy in spending time with her family, often cheering proudly as her grandkids played sports. She had a special passion for her Buffaloes, always wanting to be both the bus driver and cheer sponsor. An avid supporter of Texas Tech and the Kansas City Chiefs, thanks to star quarterback Patrick Mahomes, she also found great delight in playfully hoping for the Dallas Cowboys' defeats on Sundays, so she could talk mess.
Her voice will echo in our memories, filled with laughter and a touch of endearing exasperation as she called her children by different names, always with love. Linda will be remembered for the joy she brought into our lives, her unwavering spirit, and her ability to make any day seem warm, even when she claimed it was "cold," no matter the season.
She is survived by her two sons David (Angelica) Marquez of Crosbyton , Rudy (Melissa) Marquez of Lubbock, daughter Debbie (Patrick) Shellman of Lubbock, her 11 grandchildren Eathan, Kiana, Santos, Kaden, Gavin, Dayln, Miah, Gracelyn, Peyton, Nikko and Gabby and 6 great-grandchildren, her five sisters Silvia (Louis) Martinez of Glen Heights, Mary (Steve) Landin of Carrollton TX, Delma of Petersburg, Rosie (David) Carrillo of Lubbock and Becky (Hector) of Petersburg. She is preceded in death by her husband David P. Marquez Sr, her mother Martina Juarez, father Isaac Juarez Sr., and her brothers John and Isaac Jr. Juarez
