Enrique (Ricky) Gutierrez, a devoted husband, father, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2025, in Lubbock, Texas, surrounded by his family. Born on October 16, 1958, in Mathis, Texas, Ricky lived a life enriched by love, kindness and deep faith.
Ricky was a proud graduate of Lubbock High School, Class of 1977. His dedication to service was exemplified through his role as a volunteer and greeter at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, where he attended two Cursillos and one ACTS retreat. Ricky’s approach to life was characterized by his kind-hearted nature, welcoming spirit, and a playful touch of mischief. He was known for sharing his experiences and philosophy with those around him, leaving a lasting impression on friends and family alike.
Known for his love of watching the Dallas Cowboys, as well as classic television shows like Gunsmoke, Perry Mason, Wheel of Fortune, and Hogan's Heroes, Ricky also found joy in playing chess. He married his soulmate, Gloria Camacho, in 1982, and together they raised a loving family that includes their four children: Enrique Lee Gutierrez, Jr., Virginia Arbizu and her husband Gabriel, Brittany Alejandro and her husband Jason, and Cassandra Guzman and her husband Eric Sr. Ricky was a proud grandfather to nine grandchildren: Aryana and Eric Jr. Guzman, Jasmine, Jason, Joyce, Jonah, and Jordyn Alejandro, and Gabriel and Jacob Arbizu.
Ricky is also survived by his sister, Nan Smith, and brothers, Juan Gutierrez, Ysidro Gutierrez, and Sipriano Gutierrez. He is preceded in death by his parents, Sipriano and Anita Gutierrez, and his sister, Anita Barrera.
A visitation will be held at Guajardo Funeral Chapels in Lubbock on August 13, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM, followed by a Rosary at 7:00 PM. A Funeral Mass to celebrate Ricky’s life will take place on August 14, 2025, at Our Lady Grace Catholic Church at 10:00 AM.
Ricky’s legacy of love, faith, and compassion will forever be cherished by his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
