Elvira Lara

January 25, 1963 — January 7, 2026

Elvira Lara, 62, passed away on January 7, 2026, in Winslow, Arizona. Born in Lubbock on January 25, 1963, to the late Fabian and Tirza (Lozoya) Lara. Elvira lived a life marked by dedication to her family, and faith.

Elvira spent nearly 25 years working at the Lubbock Home Depot, store #505. Her long-standing commitment and work ethic left a lasting impression on colleagues and customers alike. Beyond her professional life, she was recognized and awarded the Molly Pitcher Award—an honor bestowed upon individuals who have made significant voluntary contributions to the Field Artillery Community. She received this award while her ex-husband was serving in the U.S. Army.

Her Catholic faith was a cornerstone of her life. Elvira was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Lubbock, Texas, where she found spiritual strength and community.

Elvira found joy in simple pleasures—traveling to new places, tending her yard lovingly, and cherishing time spent with loved ones. She especially treasured moments with her two grandchildren, Greyson and Olivia, who brought refreshing joy to her life.

She is survived by two sons, Robert and (Judy) Cavazos of Arizona, and Michael Cavazos of Florida; her brothers Ignacio Lara, Fernando Lara, Fred and (Gloria) Lara, Benjamin and (Pamela) Lara; and her sisters Esther Lara-Sistos (Pete) and Leslie Lara, and a host of loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Fabian and Juan.

Those who knew Elvira remember her as someone with a beautiful soul, a heart of gold, and a smile that could brighten any room. Her warmth touched many lives and created lasting memories for all.

May her memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her. A viewing will be held at Guajardo Funeral Chapels on Monday, January 12, 2026, from 3-9 pm.
