Elidia Torres

Elidia Torres, a loving and cherished matriarch, passed away peacefully on September 17, 2025, at the age of 76. Born on September 9, 1949, in Mathis, Texas, Elidia was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who touched the lives of many with her warmth and care.

Elidia married Johnny Torres, the love of her life, on November 18, 1968. Together, they created a beautiful family and were blessed with two sons, Johnny Jr. and Christopher, who is married to Shastity. She also lovingly nurtured her daughters, Veronica Zavala, married to David, Jesscia Urrutia, married to Saul, and Apolonia Torres, who is married to Robert. Elidia’s legacy continues through her 18 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, who will carry forward the values of love and family that she instilled in them.

Elidia was known for her generous spirit and engaging personality. She found joy in playing Bingo and cherished every moment spent with her family, making countless memories that will forever be held dear by her loved ones.

Elidia was predeceased by her daughter, Priscilla Moreno; grandsons, Noah David Zavala and Ivan Lee Torres; her father, Julian Martinez; her mother, Savastiana Martinez; and brothers she loved dearly, Julian Jr., Jose, and Sabas Martinez.

Elidia's spirit and loving nature will be greatly missed but will live on in the hearts of all those who were fortunate to know her.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate her life during visitation on September 23, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Guajardo Funeral Chapels, located at 407 N University Ave, Lubbock, TX 79415. The funeral service will take place the following day, September 24, 2025, at 10:00 AM, also at Guajardo Funeral Chapels, followed by burial at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park in Woodrow, TX at 11:15 AM. Her pallbearers will be six of her loving grandsons: Johnny Torres III, Justin Torres, Christopher Torres Jr., Damion Torres, Gregory Torres, and Gabriel Valdez.
