In Loving Memory of Elida Tafoya
Elida Tafoya, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, entered eternal rest peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family. She lived a life rooted in faith, humility, and unwavering devotion to those she held dear. Her presence was gentle yet powerful, and her love was felt deeply by all who had the blessing of knowing her.
Elida’s life was marked by selflessness. She gave freely of her time, her strength, and her heart—always placing the needs of her family and others before her own. Her kindness was quiet but constant, offered without expectation and extended to everyone she met.
She was preceded in death by those she loved dearly: Raul De Leon, Eva McHaney, Valentine De Leon, Richard De Leon, Raymond De Leon, Ray De Leon, Ruben De Leon, and Lillie Villarreal; her cherished grandson, Isaac De Leon; and her parents, Olivia and Antonio De Leon.
Elida leaves behind a beautiful legacy through her children: Angel De Leon of Blytheville, Arkansas; Antonio De Leon of Wolfforth, Texas; Rebekah De Leon of Lubbock, Texas; Julia Soliz of Edinburg, Texas; and Betty Garza of Houston, Texas. She was the proud grandmother of twelve grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, each of whom brought her immense joy and purpose. She is also survived by her brother, Antonio De Leon Jr. of Lexington, Kentucky; her sisters, Adela De Leon of Lubbock, Texas, and Geneva Torrez of Lexington, Kentucky; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members who loved her dearly.
Throughout her life, Elida worked tirelessly to support her family. She was employed at Reese Air Force Base and Covenant Hospital and served as a personal care attendant. No matter the role, she approached her work with dignity, generosity, and compassion. Even during times of hardship, she remained giving and kind, always offering care and comfort to others.
Elida Tafoya will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her quiet strength, and her deep and abiding faith. Her legacy lives on in the generations she nurtured and in the countless lives she touched.
“The souls of the just are in the hand of God, and no torment shall touch them.” — Wisdom 3:1
May she rest in eternal peace, reunited with those who have gone before her, and welcomed into the loving arms of our Lord.
