Dominga (Mercy) Valdez

Mercy Mata Valdez passed from this life on October 6, 2023 at the age of 76. She was born October 5, 1947 in Lubbock, Texas to Catarino and Victoriana Mata. She received her GED in 1977 and retired from Industrial Molding. Mercy enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and cooking for her family. She will be remembered for her chicken tacos, greasy burgers, brisket, and her delicious enchiladas. She loved working puzzles, listening to music, and hanging out with her beloved dogs.
Mercy is survived by her children Sylvia Aguilar (Robert), Ernie Valdez (June), Christina Salas, and Carol Valdez, her 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, her 3 sisters, and her former husband Richard Moreno. She is preceded in death by Joe Valdez the father of her children, her parents Catarino and Victoriana Mata, her 2 brothers, a sister, and her great-granddaughter Braelyn Huey.
Visitation will be held Thursday, October 12 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.
The funeral service will be held Friday, October 13 at 10:00 a.m. at Guajardo Funeral Chapels with interment to follow at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park.
