Dionicio Joe Gomez

Dionicio Joe Gomez, Sr. was born in Seguin, TX on October 9, 1936 to Manuel Gomez and Genoveba Valdez who preceded him in death. Dionicio went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Thanksgiving Day, November 28, 2019 at the age of 83 years. He was also preceded in death by his son, Dionicio Gomez Jr., two sisters, Anita Navarro and Janie Armstrong, and by one brother, Pete Gomez. Dionicio leaves behind his loving wife of over 18 years, Norma Gomez, his children; Eva Landin, Anna Mary Gomez-Smith, Albert Gomez, Josie Gomez, Elizabeth Gomez, Porky Hernandez and Jenny Gomez; step-daughter, Delfina Rodriguez; brothers, Valdimar Gomez, Jose Angel Gomez, Jesus Gomez, Ramon Gomez, Manuel Gomez, Jr.; sisters, Maria Lucero, Elisia Gonzalez and Esther Gomez; 24 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. In his younger days he enjoyed being a farmer, softball coach and also enjoyed working at Womble Oldsmobile. His hobbies were fishing, coloring, telling jokes and spending time with family. He was a devoted catholic and a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Visitation will be held at Guajardo Funeral Chapels on Thursday, December 5 from 9am-9pm, and again on Friday, December 6 from 9am-9pm with the Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, December 7, 2019 at 10:00am at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park.
