Delores Mcwhirter

Delores C. McWhirter, 69, of Anton, TX, passed away peacefully on August 31, 2024, in Lubbock, TX. She was married on April 8, 1977, to David Willis McWhirter Jr., and they shared 44 beautiful years together. Delores was born on May 1, 1955, to Pablo and Maria Castillo. She was known for her vibrant personality and unwavering faith. She had a fierce love for her family and a strong spirit that carried her through every challenge life presented. Delores had a passion for watching the courts on TV, often engaging in lively debates with her sister. She cherished family trips to the casino, spending quality time with her grandkids, and traveling with her beloved husband, David Willis McWhirter Jr. Her meatloaf was legendary, a recipe that will be fondly remembered and missed. She will be remembered as a feisty, loving, and faithful woman, a mother who fiercely loved her three beautiful children: David, Daniel, and Nicole (Coco). Her strength was an inspiration to all who knew her, and her deep love for her family was evident in everything she did. Delores was not only a devoted mother but also the best friend anyone could have asked for. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of her family and friends, who will always remember her for the joy, love, and strength she brought into their lives.

She is survived by her children: two sons, David McWhirter and his wife Allie of Monahans, Texas, and Daniel McWhirter and his wife Lorraine McWhirter of Morton, Texas; and one daughter, Nicole (Coco) McWhirter-Flores and her husband Mike Flores of Anton, Texas. She is also survived by one sister, Adela Sosa of Anton, Texas; four brothers, Paul and his wife Mary Castillo, Guadalupe and his wife Gloria Castillo, Tony and his wife Edna Castillo, and Genaro and his wife Olga Castillo; nine grandchildren: Lauren McWhirter, Braden Flores, Koben Flores, Kaidyn Flores, Fox McWhirter, Ainsley Flores, Sawyer McWhirter, Sylvia Shay McWhirter, and Daniel Haze McWhirter; and one great-grandchild, Ludamier Bear Flores.

She is preceded in death by her husband, David Willis McWhirter Jr.; her parents, Pablo and Maria Castillo; brothers, Philip, Joe, and Gilbert Castillo; and one granddaughter, Ava Lucia McWhirter.

Visitation will be held from 3:00pm-9:00pm on Wednesday, September 4, 2024 at Guajardo Funeral Chapels with a Holy Rosary beginning at 7:00pm.

Funeral Mass will be held at 1:00pm on Thursday, September 5, 2024 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church Anton, Texas, with Rev. Father Paul officiating.
