Daniel Rivera Jr. was born on September 1, 1954, in Nueces County, Texas. He attended Lubbock High School and was known as a kind, loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. Daniel worked at Bell Dairy (Gandy’s) for 26 years and later worked for AutoZone for 16 years as a commercial driver. He received a 15-year award from AutoZone, and upon his retirement, his AutoZone team presented him with a 16-year pin. He was known for being at work early and always willing to go the extra mile for his employer. He was physically and mentally strong willed. Daniel loved being a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, friend, and took pride in providing for his family. Some of his favorite memories included fishing after Father’s Day lunch, being a hardcore Cowboys fan, and spending holidays with his grandchildren. He also dearly loved his fur-baby, Sadie Ann. He enjoyed fishing, horseshoes, dice games, game rooms, and betting on the Cowboys. Daniel is survived by his wife of 30 years, Mary Helen Rivera; previous marriage, Karen Rivera of 21 years; son Jason Rivera (Maria); daughters Corina Gonzales (Louis), Melissa Vaeza (Alex), Priscilla Gonzales, and Cynthia Garcia; brother Jessie Jalomo (Sandra); 13 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sons Danny Paul Rivera and Brent Lane Rivera (Valerie); father Manuel Jalomo; mother Apalonina Jalomo; grandfather Pedro Gomez; grandmother Petra Gomez; and son-in-law Ruben Garcia. Daniel will be remembered for his hard work, love for his family, and the strength he carried throughout his life.
