Daniel Flores Molinar, affectionately known to all as "Chato," passed away in Lubbock, Texas, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, gentle humor, and devotion. He was 96 years old.
Born on July 7, 1929, in Presidio, Texas, to Mariano and Carolina Flores Molinar, Daniel was raised with the rugged work ethic of the West Texas borderlands. He spent his career as a skilled heavy machine operator, a profession that suited his observant nature and his talent for understanding how things worked.
Daniel was a man of quiet presence but deep curiosity. He was a lifelong tinkerer who could fix anything that time had broken and he possessed a soul for music, often found with a guitar in his hands. Though he was a "quiet observer" by nature, those close to him knew him as a gifted storyteller with a gentle sense of humor that could light up a room. Above all, he was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who led his family with a steady, kind hand.
Daniel was preceded in death by his beloved son, Juan Molinar, his parents, and his wife, the love of his life, Delia Ramirez Molinar whom he was married to for 60 years.
His memory will be cherished and kept alive by their six surviving children: Daniel Molinar Jr. (Sofia), Dora Cisneros (Dan), Buriel Molinar (Irma), Samuel Molinar (Silvia), Jose Molinar, and Jesus Molinar (Belinda). He also leaves behind a proud legacy of 25 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren who will forever remember their "abuelito.” He is survived by his sister, Maria Alvarez and brothers, Eduardo and Ysabro Molinar who he adored and often reminisced about.
