Christoval Barrera

Christoval "Chris" Barrera, a retired teacher and beloved member of the Lubbock community, passed away on December 11, 2025, at the age of 54. Born on April 12, 1971, Chris dedicated his life to education, inspiring countless students throughout his career. His profound impact as a teacher was felt by many, shaping both their academic journeys and personal growth.

Chris earned his Bachelor's Degree from Texas Tech, where his passion for learning blossomed. His commitment to education extended beyond the classroom; he believed in the power of knowledge and encouraged his students to pursue their dreams relentlessly.

Chris is survived by his loving mother, Maria Tapia, who provided unwavering support throughout his life. He is also mourned by his sister, Diana Barrera and his brothers: Robert Barrera, Jesus Barrera, and Rudy Barrera, along with his sister-in-law, Laura Kelly Barrera. Chris treasured the moments spent with his nieces and nephews, who brought joy and fulfillment to his life.

Chris's legacy of kindness, dedication, and passion for education will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew him. He will be dearly missed but remembered for his positive contributions to the lives of many.

A visitation to celebrate Chris's life will be held on December 14, 2025, at Guajardo Funeral Chapels in Lubbock, Texas, from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM, followed by a Rosary at 7:00 PM. His funeral service will take place on December 15, 2025, at 2:00 PM, also at Guajardo Funeral Chapels.
