Benito Ortiz Jr.

Benito Ortiz, Jr. passed from this life on August 17, 2024 at the age of 44. He was born February 2, 1980 in Lubbock, Texas to Benito and Christina Ortiz and was a graduate of Shallowater High School in 1998. He enjoyed writing music, singing, and playing guitar. He spent time reading his Bible, developing a deep love for the Lord, and spreading the word of God to others in the streets. He made sure that everyone knew there is a God who loves them. He will be remembered for his free spirit and his love for his children and family. Benny was a humble and honest man. He never met a stranger and always put others before himself.
Benny is survived by his father Benito (Sylvia) Ortiz of Lubbock, his sister Geneva (Jose) Cazares of Shallowater, his two sons Andreas and Gabriel Ortiz of Denver, CO, his daughter Ryebekkah Gates of Lubbock, and his step siblings Veronica (Kendall) Clarke, Sarah De Los Santos, and Adrian De Los Santos. He is preceded in death by his beautiful mother Christina Ortiz, his paternal grandparents Alberto and Maria Ortiz, his maternal grandparents Daniel and Josepha Soto, his stepbrother Antonio Perez, Jr., his uncles Emilio Ortiz and Daniel Soto, Jr., and his aunt Connie Ramirez.

A visitation will be held Thursday, September 5 from 12:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Guajardo Funeral Chapels followed by the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church.
The Funeral Mass will be held Friday, September 6 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church with Father Rudy Castra officiating.
