Benito Ortega

Benito Angel Ortega (El Venow) passed from this life on August 26, 2024 at the age of 65.  He was born in Lubbock, Texas on October 14, 1958 to Emelio and Laurita Ortega. He married Margarita “Margie” Ortega on June 6, 1974 and they shared 50 years together.  After many years of tile setting and construction, Benito enjoyed retirement listening to music, fishing, gardening, and Facebook.  He cherished the time spent with his family and will be remembered as a loving husband, dad, grandpa, son, uncle, cousin and brother and for joking and jamming.  Benito was a member of Ministerios Neuva Vida (New Life Ministries). He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.

Benito is survived by his beloved wife Margarita, their sons Jose Ortega, his wife Cindy and Israel Ortega, his wife Marlena; his grandchildren Marissa Anthony, Angelica Ortega (Jimi Sauceda), Janessa Gail Ortega (Ernest Grimaldo), Alazay Ortega (Brandon Gomez), Israel Ortega (Vanessa Vasquez), and his great-grandchildren Mahala Faith Arguijo, Aliyana Grace Valdez, Joshua Angel Sauceda, Isabella Marie Sauceda, Josiah Angel Ortega, Layla Sophia Grimaldo, Alayah Monae Alcorta, Evren Jay Alcorta, Brynleigh Nova Alcorta, Briella Amor Alcorta, Ryan Ray Gomez, Zavien Ortega, Maylani Ortega, Atlas Ortega, and Journey Ortega. His brothers Homer, Enis, and Baldemar Ortega, and his sisters, Connie Uriegas, Mercy Salazar, Virginia Ybarra, and Adela Lopez.

He is preceded in death by his parents Emilio and Laurita Ortega, his sister Emilia Alva, and his brothers Billy Ortega and Gilbert Ortega.

The visitation will be held Wednesday, August 28 from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. and on Thursday, August 29 from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Funeral services will be held Friday, August 30 at 1:00 p.m. at Guajardo Funeral Chapels with interment to follow at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park.
