Apolonia Jalomo

January 2, 1936 — October 15, 2023

Apolonia (Paula) Jalomo went to dance with the angels at the side of the Lord on October 15, 2023 at the age of 87. She was born January 8, 1936 in Robstown, Texas to Pedro Gomez and Petra Beltran Gomez. She married Manuel Jalomo, Sr. in 1958, and they shared 50 cherished years together. She was a devoted homemaker who loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed cooking, reading, traveling, and "Lincolns" as in money! She will be remembered for her great cooking, endearing love of family, and funny wit. She owned and ran several restaurants over the years with her beloved husband Manuel where she did all the cooking. Everyone wanted her food, especially her tamales! Her great sense of humor was mixed with her own personal views of the world, that a lucky few got to share, as she believed it was better to be seen than heard. Paula was a product of the Great Depression and believed she should work hard and then work harder, never to complain, however never missing an opportunity to help others even if she had little. Paula was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Never did a day go by that she didn't thank the Lord for blessings and his grace, a wonderful example of a personal relationship with her God and savior Jesus Christ. She instilled that same reverence to our Lord and savior in her family, never wavering in the Lord or her family. Family always came first! She never left Daddy's side no matter what and always supported him and her family. She will be missed and mourned, but ultimately honored, celebrated, and remembered as the Matriarch, the Queen of the family, the rock! Go dance high on that mountain with daddy! There will never be another like you!

Those left to cherish her memory are her sons Jesse Jalomo, Sr. and Daniel Rivera, Jr. (Mary Helen), her daughter Lupe Bustamonte, 29 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Paula is preceded in death by her beloved husband Manuel Jalomo, Sr., her parents Pedro and Petra Gomez, her sons Manuel Jalomo, Jr., Ruben Jalomo, Sr., her daughter Lela Flores Jalomo, Elvia Gillian, premature twins, and another small son, her brothers Carlos Gomez, Jesus Gomez, Leonarda Villarreal, and Mary Espinosa.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 18 from 3:00 to 9:00 p.m. with the Holy Rosary service at 7:00 at Guajardo Funeral Chapels. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, October 19 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Jospeh's Catholic Church with Father Raymundo Manriquez officiating. Interment will follow at the City of Lubbock Cemetery.
