Abelardo Cantu Iii

Abelardo Cantu III went to his eternal home August 28, 2021, at the age of 53. He was born November 7, 1967, in Lubbock, TX to Ruben Cantu and Dominga Tovar. He was a 1989 graduate of Abernathy High School. A member of Bacon Heights Baptist Church, Abelardo enjoyed worshipping the Lord. He loved his family and church family and enjoyed spending time with them. He will be remembered for being the light of his family, his smile, his love for the Lord, and his unconditional love.
Those left to cherish his memory are his mother Dominga Tovar; his brothers Danny Cantu and Ruben Cantu; his sisters Eva Doss, Sylvia Washington, Vanessa Guevara, Terry Tovar and Esther Olguin; his nephews and nieces Byron Washington, Rashonda Washington, Sherika Washington, Nathan Guevara, Leah Guevara, Jared Tovar, Patrick Montoya, Damon Montoya, Ethan Montoya, Joshua Doss, Cody Cantu, Kelby Cantu, Maya Cantu, Dani Cantu, Heather Olguin, J.J. Olguin, Eddie Olguin, Andrew Olguin, and Madison Cantu, and his great nieces and great nephews Aayden Tovar, Kenzlee Tovar, Tino Mendoza, I'lani Montoya, Kashton Guevara, and Liam River.
He is preceded in death by his stepfather Sam Tovar.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 1 from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Guajardo Funeral Chapels. Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 2 at 10:00 a.m. at Bacon Heights Baptist Church with Pastor Mike Lewis officiating. Burial will follow at the City of Lubbock Cemetery.
