Abelardo (Bobby) Lopez Adame, 76, passed away Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born August 21, 1947 in Slaton, Texas.
At the age of 17, Abelardo enlisted into the United Stated Army and served with great courage as an infantryman during the Vietnam War, serving two tours of duty, from 12 April 1966 to 22 February 1967 and 22 July 1968 to 13 July 1969. For his service to his country he would receive the Army Commendation Medal, the Bronze Star Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device (1960 - ). Abelardo would be honorably discharged from the U. S. Army as a Staff Sargent.
He married Esmeralda Nieto on October 27th, 2000 in Lubbock.
He was known for his love of music, accordion playing, and sweet vocals.
Family meant everything to him as there wasn’t anything he wouldn’t do to help, not only his immediate family, but distant family members and friends.
He loved to travel with his wife Esmeralda, and if anyone asked him where he was going, his answer was always “I don’t know, wherever the road takes me”. They would often hook up the RV and hit to road to visit loved ones that lived out of town and if there was a casino nearby, he was sure to pay a visit.
Abelardo is survived by his wife of 29 years, Esmeralda Adame, his children, Pauline Castillo, Michael Adame, Esmeralda Adame, Amy Adame, and Israel Adame. He has 21 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. His step-children, Rosalinda Gaitan, Monica Perez, Ericka Gutierrez, Amanda Gutierrez, Johnny Gutierrez, and Carlos Gutierrez. He has numerous step-grandchildren and step great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Christina Molina, Delfina (Pete)Moya, Elvira Garcia, Elvira Lopez, and Isabel Hernandez, and his brother, Emilio Flores.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Agapita Adame, his biological mother, Paula Lopez, and his brothers, Juan Adame and Jose Adame.
Visitation will begin at 3:00pm on Tuesday, January 2nd, 2024 at Guajardo Funeral Chapels in Lubbock. A celebration of life will be held at 10:00am, Wednesday, January 3rd, 2024 at Guajardo Funeral Chapels in Lubbock, followed by Graveside services at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park. Military honors by the Patriot Guard Riders.
